Help with Badum

Write to hello@badumdrums.com and a person will answer.

The easiest way is from the app: You, then Help, then Write to us. If something went wrong, turn on Include diagnostics before you send it: your email then carries what Badum noted about crashes, slow starts and errors on your phone, with its version and your phone's model. No names, takes or sound. It is off unless you turn it on, each time.

My electronic kit doesn't show as connected

Use the square USB TO HOST port on the drum module, not a headphone or MIDI socket. An iPhone with USB-C needs a USB-C to USB-B cable; an iPhone with Lightning needs Apple's Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter and a USB-A to USB-B cable. The cable has to carry data: charge-only cables don't work. Then tap the chip at the top right of any screen and choose Electronic kit. Which cable to buy

A Bluetooth kit is paired inside Badum, not in the iPhone's Settings. Pairing a Bluetooth kit

A pad shows up as the wrong drum

Go to You, then Kit & sound, then Pads and layout. Tap the pad and choose what it counts as, or teach it by hitting it. Badum remembers it.

The microphone hears hits I didn't play

Put the phone near the drums with nothing over the microphone, and play with headphones if you can, so the app doesn't hear its own sounds. On the phone's speaker Badum counts you in and then stays quiet while it listens. On an acoustic kit, Teach Badum your drums in Kit & sound helps it tell the kick, snare and hi-hat apart.

My hits are marked late

Bluetooth headphones and speakers play everything a little late. The first time you use new ones, Badum offers a short check that times them; you can also run it any time from You, then Kit & sound, then Timing check. Wired headphones are the most exact.

Several people play on one phone

Each player has their own path, takes and week. Add one in You, then Players. With more than one player, Badum asks who's playing when it opens.

Does my progress move to a new phone?

Progress is kept on the device and travels with a device backup. You can also go to You, then Settings, then Save a copy: it puts a player's takes, passes and settings in one file. On the other phone, Bring in a copy adds it to a player there or as a new player. Nothing is replaced.

How do I start again, or delete my progress?

To start again, add a new player in You, then Players. To delete a player and everything they played, switch to someone else, then open that player in Players and tap Remove. Deleting the app deletes everything Badum kept on the phone.

The daily reminder stopped

If you don't play for a while, the reminder backs off and then rests until you play again, so it never nags. Settings says when it is resting. If it says notifications are off, turn them on for Badum in the iPhone's Settings.

The free trial, buying and cancelling

What's free? Level 0, for good, and a shelf of grooves in Play. Everything after it is Badum Full: 14 days free, then $29.99 a year, or $59.99 once. Price in full

Cancel the trial or the yearly plan. On the iPhone or iPad: Settings, your name, Subscriptions, Badum, Cancel Subscription. Cancel during the trial and you pay nothing. Your progress and Level 0 stay.

I bought Badum Full and the lessons are locked again. Open any locked lesson, or You, then Badum Full, and tap Restore, signed in with the Apple Account that bought it. You're never charged twice.

I'm subscribed and want to pay once instead. Buy once, then cancel the yearly plan in Settings so it doesn't renew. Buying once doesn't cancel it by itself.

Family Sharing. Badum Full is shared with your family when the person who bought it shares purchases in Family Sharing. Each person then opens Badum on their own device; if a lesson still shows locked, tap Restore.

A refund. Apple handles payments and refunds, at reportaproblem.apple.com.

I had Badum before it went on sale. Every level stays open for you. If something shows locked, write to us.
